Becoming Mindful
Step two in, The Art of Meditation is learning to become mindful. But what does becoming mindful mean? Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgment. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and has been found to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness. Without thoughts of the past that keep you mired in emotion, and without thoughts of the future which can cause anxiety, you are free to be mindful and experience your, NOW. The past is already gone, the future has not yet come, you only have the present so be mindful of it.
You should have, by this point, already have been working with the relaxation self-hypnosis in part one, The Art of Meditation. If you haven’t download and worked with the self-hypnosis session please do that before moving to step two. This is a completely free program for all members, subscribers and visitors.
This next download is a guided meditation on learning to be mindful through your breath. The professionally designed meditation was created by, The Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC). MARC is a partner of the Norman Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology within the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. The mission of the Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) is to disseminate mindful awareness across the lifespan through education and research.
Download this guided meditation and work with it for two days or nights. You can use the relaxation self-hypnosis, from step one, before using this download but it’s not necessary to do that. Since you have now experienced complete relaxation you know how that feels. Now you can slip right back into that incredible feeling of absolute relaxation just by thinking about it. With just a thought your body is very relaxed. Now we must work on the mind. Duration 12:00
