In 2012 I moved away from Houston, Texas. Houston is a very large and populated city and I had lived there for 35 years. My kids were grown by then and had moved into their own lives. I was ready for a new adventure and so I moved into the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas. Living in the country was incredible and I felt so at home in the peace of the countryside.
I moved back to the city several years ago to take care of my mom but she is gone from me now so it’s time for a fresh start back out to the place I have come to love, and that’s the countryside.
Moving back into the country is an exciting and transformative journey, filled with the promise of fresh starts and new experiences for me. I can’t wait to reconnect with nature, find peace away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and embrace a slower, more intentional way of living.
I’ve been manifesting this move back into the countryside for a while. Here are some of the benefits to giving up the conveniences of the city and moving into a slower paced lifestyle in a rural area.
Embracing Nature and Tranquility
One of the most immediate and noticeable changes when moving back to the country is the reconnection with nature. The countryside offers a serene and picturesque environment, characterized by open spaces, lush greenery, and a slower pace of life. This move allows you to immerse yourself in the beauty of natural landscapes, enjoy the sounds of birds chirping, and breathe in the fresh, unpolluted air. The tranquility found in the countryside is a stark contrast to the constant noise and rush of urban areas, providing a much-needed respite for the mind and soul.
Building a Stronger Sense of Community
Country living often fosters a stronger sense of community. In smaller towns and rural areas, people tend to know their neighbors and look out for each other. This close-knit community can be incredibly supportive, offering a sense of belonging and camaraderie that is sometimes missing in larger cities. Engaging with local activities, participating in community events, and forming new friendships can be incredibly rewarding and help you feel more connected to your surroundings.
Personal Growth and Self-Discovery
Moving to a new place, especially a rural area, can be a catalyst for personal growth and self-discovery. The change in environment encourages you to step out of your comfort zone, adapt to new circumstances, and develop new skills. Whether it’s learning how to garden, exploring local hiking trails, or simply finding joy in the quiet moments, the countryside offers ample opportunities for self-reflection and personal development.
Health and Well-being
The physical and mental health benefits of living in the country are well-documented. The abundance of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, and gardening, promotes a more active lifestyle. Additionally, the reduced stress levels associated with a quieter, more relaxed environment can lead to improved mental well-being. The slower pace of life allows for more mindfulness and a greater appreciation of the simple pleasures, contributing to overall happiness and life satisfaction.
I Can’t Wait to Rediscover the Simplicity of Intentional Living!
Country living brings about a shift towards simplicity and intentional living for me. Without the distractions and demands of urban life, I have the opportunity to focus on what truly matters. This might mean simply enjoying the beauty of each day. The move will inspire a more mindful approach to life and it will bring joy and peace to my life.
