Something really big and exciting happened in the small town of Van Horn, Texas this morning. A rocket went to space with a small crew of civilians including the illustrious, Captain James T. Kirk, played by William Shatner, in one of the most loved television series of all time – Star Trek.
Ninety year old William Shatner, blasted into space today reaching the final frontier aboard a ship built by Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company with three other people. They went 66 miles into space for 10 minutes then came back to earth and completed a successful landing while the whole world watched.
Jeff Bezos (Amazon Founder) admits to being a very big Star Trek fan so he was excited to invite Shatner on the flight. Bezos himself brought the crew to the launchpad and he was there to greet the crew after their safe return to earth.
“We’re just at the beginning, but how miraculous that beginning is. How extraordinary it is to be part of that beginning,” Shatner said in a Blue Origin video before the flight.
This is really the very beginning. We are all witnessing the first successful steps for colonizing other planets. Soon rockets like Bezos’, Blue Origin will be the norm as civilians fly to colonized planets almost like when we board an airplane now for a flight across our planet.
It’s been known that Mars will be the first civilian colonized planet by earth humans because it can again sustain human life. In fact, Mars used to be a planet simular to earth with people and life all over it. The atmosphere of Mars was destroyed and without an atmosphere it could no longer sustain life.
In 2015, astrophysicist, John Brandenburg wrote a book called, Death On Mars which describes how there was an interplanetary war involving Mars and Maldek. In that war, Maldek was completely destroyed and became what is known now as the asteroid belt. Mars had its atmosphere destroyed and could no longer sustain life for the people living there so it became a desolate planet.
NASA has been exploring Mars for years and they have found water on the planet. Those water sources prove that Mars can sustain human life. It’s being readied now for people that might choose to live their lives out on the red planet and call it home. Private rockets like Blue Origin will be flying people from earth to all parts of our solar system in the near future. That seems like science fiction but it’s real and happening now.
“They used to say that if man was meant to fly, he’d have wings. But he did fly. He discovered he had to.” ~ Captain James T. Kirk
