This is a phenomenal experience. You know for sure someone was watching and guiding you, Keith. It’s amazing how many times we are kept on our paths. If we pay attention we always have a guardian, or many, in the Universe.

I had an experience driving one time. I was on a road trip and it was a very long one. I fell asleep at the wheel. Not just a nod either, I went to sleep. Suddenly I heard a very loud voice that said, Wake Up! I was the only one in the car. When I woke up I was moving fast in the grass beside the highway. My car was about 5 feet from the highway divider. I definitely had somebody looking after me that day.

Hi Vickie….thanks for helping out with getting this post online.
This was an important lesson for me, but it’s interesting that when I was seriously tested when I was assigned to Lajes Field, Azores….I still chose to let my emotions, my anger take hold after Linda was murdered (part of the book).
When I came back to the US and was assigned to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS I turned into a mess. Had it not been for several people who cared deeply about getting me back on the path….I probably wouldn’t be here right now.
In fact, just to put this in context, I was reassigned in September 1973. Linda had already been murdered. By December 1973, Sherry had been murdered and my mother died of cancer. So, the three most important people in my life had all been taken away.
Even though losing them tore at the core of my heart, it was also their support beyond the vile that helped me regain the life path I needed to be on and finally learn why I was here going through all of these challenges.
And ohhhhhh by the way…we have one more thing in common. I know what it’s like to fall asleep while driving. I did that only once and I realized that I had been burning the candle at both ends far too long.
Fortunately, this happened literally in the middle of the night on a highway that had no other traffic at the time. Waking up while traveling in the median headed for a drop off that was ahead of me (hit the hole instead of staying on the bridge….yeah, great option) really got my attention. I never did that again 🙂

That was a frightening lesson. Life is quite a lesson isn’t it? Thank you for posting it. So many people have talked about their guardians. They are there for us and if it’s not our time to physically die they do interfere.

BTW, I never made the mistake of driving tired either after that. If I get too tired, I stop now days.
